Biography of Speaker - Mark A. Boroush

OTP provides advice and analysis to federal policymakers on a wide range of innovation and technology policy issues, particularly as they intersect business and economic concerns. Mr. Boroush joined the OTP staff in February 2001. He is an economist and science/technology policy analyst by background – and earlier in his career, a research biochemist. Currently, Mark coordinates the Interagency Working Group on Technology Transfer, leads the federal agencies’ preparation of the periodic reports to the President and Congress on federal lab technology transfer activities and achievements, and is the head U.S. Government delegate to an Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) committee on innovation and technology policy. Prior to joining Commerce, Mark was a science policy analyst at the Office of Science Policy, Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health; a senior analyst and project director with the U.S. Congress’ Office of Technology Assessment (OTA); and an economist/policy analyst with the Futures Group (based in Connecticut), a management consulting firm that conducted strategic planning and policy research assignments for corporations and government clients. In the first half of the 1970s, Mark was a biochemist in basic life sciences research at Harvard University and the University of Michigan
